President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s romantic first date is being turned into a motion picture, titled Southside With You. Tika Sumpter and Parker Sawyers will play the young couple on their 1989 first date on Chicago’s south side.
In 2007, the POTUS gushed about his date with Mrs. O in O Magazine:
“On our first date, I treated her to the finest ice cream Baskin-Robbins had to offer, our dinner table doubling as the curb. I kissed her, and it tasted like chocolate.”
The young love birds made a whole day of their date, visiting the Art Institute of Chicago, and seeing Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing. The moment was so sentimental that a plaque on East 53rd street in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood stands where they first kissed. At the time, Obama was a first-year Harvard Law student where the younger Michelle, maiden name Robinson, was his boss. And in 1992 the two tied the knot.
The Glendon Palmer produced film, written and directed by Richard Tanne, will begin production in August. Vixens, are we the only ones who can’t wait to see it?
