The Knowles women know how to keep a busy schedule. While her daughters continue to take over music, fashion and everything in between, matriarch Tina is shifting her attention to philanthropy. The fashion and costume designer is partnering with Houston’s non-profit Bread of Life Inc. for the Miss A Meal campaign.
The anti-hunger campaign will encourage Americans to skip a meal and donate the money they would have spent to the millions of Americans who need it. “When we say ‘we are starving,’ we have to remember that there are people who are literally starving. If everyone fed one person, one meal, we could make a huge difference,” said Knowles in a press release.
Tina has also charged her daughters, who are no strangers to charitable causes, with getting the word out. Beyoncé previously spoke about volunteering with Bread of Life as a child at her church.
“I was 13 and my sister Solange was 8 when we started donating and serving meals to the homeless after church,” said Beyoncé. “There were people from all walks of life, even children, who needed a meal. We learned that we are all three paychecks away from poverty. It was a lesson in humility for all of us.”
