“Smize” queen Tyra Banks has a new project on her hands. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the legendary Top Model has teamed up with VH1 to produce the new docuseries, TransAmerica. The eight-episode series—which will star model/activist Carmen Carrera—will follow five millennial women living in Chicago and how identifying as transgender affects their lives. Banks will executive produce TransAmerica alongside Gay Rosenthal.
“It would be easy to focus on the transgender aspect, but this series is about so much more,” said Susan Levison, VH1’s executive VP programming. “This is a show about a group of compelling, gorgeous young friends who are on a unique journey while staying true to their authentic selves. We believe that message resonates.”
We’re looking forward to it. The series is expected to debut in late 2014 or early 2015.
