No summer ensemble is complete without a pair of fashion forward spectacles. Just ask Coco and Breezy, the designer duo who’ve built a successful career off their one-of-a-kind eyewear. Barely out of their teenage years, the twin sisters ditched their Midwest digs for big city living years ago and the rest is in the design books. Today, their celebrity customers include Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Rihanna, who was recently spotted pairing C&B’s Zesiro shades in New York City.
But the self-proclaimed artists not only create art–they live it.
Combined with their uninhibited personal style, Coco and Breezy are constantly redefining what it means to carve your own path. During our exclusive Vixen chat, the designers talked to us about their Omorose collection, accessories every girl should own and their idea of a perfect summer day. — Nikki Brown

VIBE Vixen: You call yourselves artists in addition to being designers. What makes one different from the other?
Coco: Our passion is art, and we consider our sunglasses as a functional art piece.
Breezy: We love to paint, sketch, direct moving visuals, design and anything else that inspires us. I actually just took a break from a painting I was working on so I could do this interview. As I was painting, I got very inspired by the colors of paint I incorporated. I plan on using my painting as inspiration for a design of sunglasses.
Nice! What is your favorite style of sunglasses?
C: I love an oversize look! We have a pair called Thema from our Omorose Collection. I always say, “Go big or go home with your sunglasses this summer.”
B: My favorite pair are definitely our Zesiro style.
Tell us about your newest collection “Omorose”?
C: Our Omorose collection has different ranges of shapes and styles. With this collection we developed our signature of cut-out shapes incorporated in the frame or/and temple. When we were in our creative session for the Omorose collection, we were very much inspired by the Egyptian culture. The name Omorose comes from the Egyptian name for beautiful. I imagine the kind of girl that would wear our sunglasses would be open-minded and definitely have a love for sunglasses. When she puts our sunglasses on, she would gain a new level of confidence and feel really good.
In addition to your sunnies, what are 5 accessory items that every Vixen should own?
Both: Septum nose piercing. It’s our obsession and favorite piercing. We have had it for years! A hat or beanie, sketch book, and pencil at all times. You never know when you will have the next big idea. Gold accessories–gives you that goddess look.
Definitely! Have you found one fashion item that you’ll wear throughout the summer yet? If so, can you tell us about it and why you love it so much?
B: Our leather shorts are definitely our go-to piece. You can wear them in so many different styles.
You’re both known for being stylish trailblazers. What is your advice for Vixens looking to separate themselves from the crowd?
C: Don’t try to be someone that you’re not. If you stay true to who you are, you will stand out.
B: Yes, I can honestly say that we are always comfortable to be ourselves in any environment and that is what separates us in a crowd.
What is your idea of a perfect summer day?
Both: Traveling!
C: We love to travel and we gain the most inspiration on the plane. We also love riding our bikes, so our idea of a perfect summer day would have breezy weather, which is perfect for bike riding.
B: A perfect summer day would start off with waking up to the birds chirping. Wake up and make a juice with fresh fruits. Next, go to our friend Nahdi’s yoga class. After yoga, go to the park to enjoy the weather and relax, then meet with friends to grab a bite to eat. After we are done eating, have all of our friends come back to our place to have a creative session. This is what a perfect summer day would be!
