Job hunting can be a long, exhaustive and daunting task; especially if you aren’t getting the results you’re looking for. Sometimes it isn’t enough to wake up with a positive attitude and a fresh cup of coffee. While the internet may not be your sole source for landing a dream job (cue networking, and career fairs), there are tons of available opportunities
And if jobs aren’t coming to you left and right, don’t stress. 1) the economy STILL sucks and 2) it may not be you more so than the job sites you’re using.
We’ve rated the top career sites that make for the best and worst search engines to use when trying to land the job of your dreams! Or just any job at all..
1. Indeed
Indeed makes job searching look extremely easy. The simplicity of filling in your desired position and specific location can surface hundreds of results, making the job hunt lax and convenient. Although the Indeed database is overloaded with tons of candidates, you’ll never have to worry about scams and bombarding emails. However, remember you’re one of the millions applying and tossing their resume into cyber space.

2. Monster.com
Surrendering your information over to the Monster career site will automatically disrupt your inbox. Monster prides themselves over being one of the largest websites in the world, but users have rated the site to provide excessive scamming and one of the weaker job search engines. General results tend to list position that you hadn’t had in mind and if you’re interested in media positions, prepare for a high volume of AFLAC sales opps (yes, that silly commercial with the duck quacking “Aflac”)

3. Career Builder
CareerBuilder is a highlight for resume building and helping you to narrow in on your job search. Similar to Monster.com, you can expect an overload of emails and scams from the site’s excessive job reccomendations, where the majority typically won’t coincide with your background, experience or qualifications.
Although you may run across a few honest listings here, there is nothing that you can’t find on a better and updated job site.

4. LinkedIN
LinkedIN is not only the largest professional site out, but it offers great job opportunities in any field of choice! Job postings are frequently updated and with a little bit of research, you can directly connect with hiring managers and industry insiders to learn more about a position and the overall company. The site is a great tool for networking and connecting with other professionals in and out of your area. Send invites to company managers. Upon approval of your request, you have access to message and chat. Use LinkedIN to personalize yourself, ask for informational interviews and to become familiar with the heavy weights in your industry. You’re guaranteed to have a positive and successful job hunt if used correctly.
Vixen rating: 5 out of 5 stars.
5. Craigslist
When you think of job sites and legitimacy, Craigslist may not hold top position for your site of choice. But before ruling it out, listen up! The great thing about Craigslist is that you search by industry, region or employment status. There are hundreds of new positions opening up every single day and great start up companies continuously enlist candidates through the site. Be leery to offers that sound too good to be true, but most postings are completely legitimate. What’s to love about Craigslist? Employers only request an email with a resume. So save yourself time creating the perfect cover letter or having to fill out applications and questionnaires. Pretty simple right?
