As New York Fashion Week for Spring 2013 comes to a close, fashionistas are getting ready to strut their stuff with fresh-off-the-runway garb.
Designer Shateria Moragne-el turnt up with leather-accented and furry threads at her NY fashion show, attended by the likes of Rick Ross, Trina and Waka Flocka Flame. Ahead of her “C.R.E.A.M.” showcase, she stopped by VIBE HQs to describe the humble beginnings of her collection and what’s in store for the future.
“It actually came about as a t-shirt line…and I was like, I’m gonna make the most comfortable, cool t-shirts you can wear and go from there,” the former dancer recalls. “Then when I started designing the t-shirts, it just became a full-out line.”
After expanding her tops-only stock to full ensembles, she added in leather, which has become a staple feature of her designs. “Leather, for 2013, is what fashion really needed ’cause not only does it give you edge, but also shows high-end at the same time.”
Her fashion show flaunted sexy yet chic ‘fits for the females, that complement sneakers and heels but the best accessory? Confidence. “We need the best material that a woman can put on her body and make her feel like she is everything.”
