Zendaya Coleman will be stepping up her game to fill Aaliyah’s shoes to play her in the Lifetime movie, but was she the first choice? If you ask Teyana Taylor—or anyone in her entourage—the answer would be no.
The G.O.O.D. music signee had dibs on the role but had a change of heart when she learned the late princess’ family backed out. Yesterday the “Maybe” singer’s friend Tyrone posted three videos on his Instagram of the controversial star audition for the project.
He captioned the three part video—one monologue, dancing, and singing:
I know teyana is gona be mad at me for posting her audition clips but i honestly feel no one deserves this role more then her . She embraces Aaliyah dancing , acting and singing. (Which I’ll be posting all 3parts) but unfortunately @teyanataylor heard that Aaliyah’s family isn’t involved & she no longer wanted to be apart of the film.
The first one features Tey’s footwork for “Try Again,” the next was her short dialogue, and lastly her cover of “At Your Best.”
