Media personality, actress, comedian, author, and a daytime talk show host Wendy Williams just got some great news.
According to Variety, Lionsgate recently extended the Williams’ contract until 2022 for her hit talk show, The Wendy Williams Show. John Feltheimer, the global entertainment company’s CEO, announced the big news during an earnings calls with the brand’s analysts Tuesday (Nov. 7). Since 2009, her eponymous daytime talk show was nationally syndicated.
Interestingly, when producers first approached her back in 2007 to do the show, she was actually reluctant. “I thought, ‘here we go again,’ ” Williams recalled during a chat with Detroit News. But after explaining the show’s premise and the success it could bring her in the future, she decided to try television for a second time.
“They wanted to do a talk show centered around a host, as opposed to formulating a talk show and dropping a host in the middle,” she said. “That’s where a lot of people get it screwed up.”
Well, congratulations are surely in order for Williams.
