With Nas and 50 Cent embracing like old friends on stage, Nicki Minaj bringing out Drake and the G-Unit reunion, Hot 97’s Summer Jam was pretty amazing. The night was filled with surprises and great performances, but there were a few things that could’ve made the event better.
Flip through to see what could have made Summer Jam 2014 even better.
A Reconciliation Between Trey Songz & August Alsina
It would have been a great moment to see if Trey Songz brought former homie August Alsina on stage during his set and embraced him in front of 50,000. A performance of the “I Luv This Shit” remix would have sufficed as well. Trey has voiced that he has no hard feelings for the young crooner, but there has been no word of on August’s feelings have changed.

A Chris Brown Performance
With “Loyal” still ringing off and overlapping as a summer banger, having Chris Brown as a part of the main stage lineup would have been inevitable except for one tiny bit: he was in jail. His absence was felt, with affiliate Sevyn Streeter and fellow VA native Trey Songz paying tribute to him during their sets. To team Breezy’s delight, the singer was released this morning from a Los Angeles county jail at 12:01 a.m., 31 minutes after Summer Jam had ended.

A Surprise Appearance From Rihanna
After pictures surfaced of Rihanna hanging out backstage with her beau Drake and Nicki Minaj, the Navy was feeling some type of way about her not making a surprise appearance during a performance or possibly having a set of her own. The bad gal has never performed on the Summer Jam stage (she was a no-show in 2008).

Erykah Badu Performing With the Roots
We rarely see Erykah Badu but when she does pop up, it is an epic occasion. With live instrumentation from the Roots, Erykah could have served up some neo-soul fixings with performances of hits like “Bag Lady,” her Roots collaboration “You Got Me” and “Tyrone.”
