Hair is often a hot topic among women. Some are defined by their mane, while others just don’t care. Whenever hair comes up amongst my girlfriends and I, the number one discussion is whether long or short hair hurts a black women’s image. Many of today’s celebrity Vixens, such as Alicia Keys, Tia Mowry and Rihanna are chopping off their hair and donning their new looks with confidence.–Nicole Brown

Kelly Rowland

Back in the day (or my day at least), Kelly was my favorite Destiny’s Child member for one reason: she totally pulled off the short crop cut and stood out amongst her fellow long-haired members (yes, even Beyonce!) with confidence. I would love to see a 2012 version of her old school look.

Keyshia Cole

Keyshia usually rocks long and light-haired tresses. We got to see her with a short ‘do during her Lil Wayne-assisted performance at this year’s iHeartRadio Festival. Perhaps a permanent short do to go along with her new album and positive outlook on life as wife and mother?

Azealia Banks

The “212” femcee is known for her mermaid-long, multi-colored tresses. She’s always turning heads with her fashion choices and bold statements–a drastic new hair ‘do may do the same.

Ciara

Since bursting onto the scene back in 2004, the Princess of Crunk-n-B has worn her signature long locks parted down the middle.  This year, she’s attempting to revive her place in music with a new album and record label family. I think bringing back the short haircut that she rocked for all of one second would look great on her. 

Erykah Badu

Erykah’s never been one to place attention on her hair. Back in the 90s, she wore a wrap on her head for years, forcing us all to pay more attention to what she was saying instead of what she was wearing. However, you can’t help but imagine just how beautiful short hair would be in combination with those green eyes and fabulous bone structure. 

Jada Pinkett Smith

Jada took us all by surprise when she shaved her head for her role in Set It Off. In fact, she looked so fly that she rocked that same look even after the movie wrapped. Jada’s got those sky-high cheek bones that compliment a pixie cut perfectly. 

Tasha Smith

Tasha is no doubt one of Hollywood’s most outspoken and charismatic personalities. A haircut just as bold as she would be fitting. If you have any doubt that she can’t pull it off, check out her twin sister Sidra who works a bald and beautiful look.
