Aaliyah touched many lives during the reign of her career and posthumously with her legacy. Last night (Nov 15), her unique sound, triple threat talent, and fashion forward style reemerged with Lifetime’s biopic premiere of Aaliyah: Princess of R&B.
The film aired with one noticeably missing link and name, Zendaya Coleman. Coleman was originally casted as the lead but after much controversy she dropped from the role and Drumline: A New Beat’s star Alexandra Shipp nabbed it. However dropping the opportunity to portray the late singer didn’t damper the inspiration Aaliyah’s career bestowed upon the 18-year-old.
“One [lesson] would probably be is to always stay humble and always stay thankful. Its one thing about her that I heard from people that knew her and were close to her,” the fashionista, singer, and actress told us. “She was a very sweet, warm, and a loving person and I think that above all that she was able to accomplish is the most important. That’s the coolest part.”
