After announcing the exciting news of joining the CoverGirl cosmetics family, Zendaya has returned with a video for “Neverland” from Finding Neverland: The Album, the musical companion to Harvey Weinstein’s Broadway production of Finding Neverland.
In the eight-minute visual, Zendaya’s dreams are brought to life right before her very own eyes, taking the stage for a solo performance and a executing a group choreographed dance number.
“I am so excited to tell the story of Neverland through my own lens,” Zendaya said in a statement. “It was an honor to act alongside Bryan Cranston, and so great to reunite with Maks and Ian, who both helped bring a cool and edgier vibe to the video through their choreography. I hope my fans are as inspired by Neverland as I was inspired by Finding Neverland on Broadway.”
The 19-year-old starlet joined the likes John Legend, Rita, Ora, Nick Jonas, Ellie Goulding, Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Lopez and Trey Songz on the 2015 compilation that reworked songs from the show. “Zendaya is one of the most vibrant, talented performers on the scene right now and we are beyond thrilled that she could lend her talents in this brilliant new video and adaption of Neverland,” Weinstein offered in a statement. “Brad, Maks and Ian collaborated gorgeously with her to perfectly replicate the story’s magical spirit and get audiences excited for the Broadway production all over again.”
The entertainer also has a follow-up to her 2013 debut in the works, working in the studio with Timbaland, Diane Warren, and Babyface. “I would say it’s the new wave of R&B,” she told MTV News. “It’s where I think it should be going, or it should be headed; it’s very old-school vibe, but it’s a new-age version.”
