The 1st Annual Global Spin Awards Give DJs Their Proper Respect (Photos)

This past Monday, the first annual Global Spin Awards took place in NYC—honoring past, present, and international DJs from all aspects of the genre.

Held in the heart of Midtown at The Times Center, the GSAs recognized DJs in categories like Breakthrough DJ Of The Year, Female DJ Of the Year, Celebrity DJ Of The Year, and the coveted DJ Of The Year—which was given to recent fan-favorite DJ Drama.

Bad Boy Records & Power Moves Inc. executive Shawn Prez orchestrated the evening, with MTV & Shade 45 radio personality Sway Calloway hosting.

The event is expected to get bigger and better come next year, so it’s great to finally see the DJs getting their deserved recognition in the forefront.
