Chi-City Champion
Jabari is Chicago high school basketball royalty. He lead the famed Simeon high school to four straight state titles, won Gatorade National Player of the Year and was selected as both a McDonalds All-American and Jordan Brand Classic All-American. Was winning co-MVP of the JBC the beginning seeds of this marriage? Who knows. But one thing is clear, signing Jabari gives Jordan Brand a huge boost in a market that adidas currently has a former MVP and fellow Chicago native in. With Derrick Rose yet to return and the excitement behind Parker’s debut, an interesting sneaker war is brewing in the midwest.

Young Blood
Jordan Brand has worked to rebrand itself as more than just retro releases. People are excited again with their new models and their new athletes. Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul lead the way, followed by young gunners Blake Griffin and Russell Westbrook. Given how special this draft class is, JB had to land someone that could carry on the name in the long run. As long as Jabari does well, he could be set, sneaker company wise, for the duration of his career.

The Right Market
As of right now, the consensus is that Cleveland will pick Andrew Wiggins No.1 overall and Jabari will follow to Milwaukee at No.2. This might be the first time a player as competitive as Parker hopes he goes second. Not that he couldn’t play with current Cavaliers star Kyrie Irving, but Milwaukee’s closer to Chicago. No doubt that was thought up when Parker and JBC made this move.

The Colors Will Be Crazy
Jordan Brand’s creative department thinks way outside the box. From the details and innovations on the newer J’s, to the use of different materials (like 3M) on everything from apparel to the kicks themselves, forward is the current state JB is headed. New players always bring new energy because there’s now a new story to tell. Imagine the Air Jordan XX9’s in Milwaukee Bucks earth tone colors. Or even in Duke colors, which would be ill. Blasphemous considering Michael Jordan’s UNC ties, but ill nonetheless.

Jabari’s A Good Kid
And that’s what the brand needs. Think of their current roster of players like a boy band. There’s Carmelo, the lead singer, Chris Paul, the shy one, Blake Griffin, the funny one, Russell Westbrook, the rebel and now Jabari, the baby face. Parker, like the rest of the team, has the Michael Jordan “I can sell anything” smile/appeal to him. Like, he made people like Duke for a season. He’s so likable, you always want him to win. Signing with Jordan Brand was definitely a W.
