President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama turned heads Friday night (Sept. 25) with their stylish appearance at the State Dinner. The ceremony was held in celebration of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to The White House with his wife, Peng Liyuan.
But the showstopper was the nation’s first lady, who wore a black Vera Wang gown. The fashionable ensemble even had the leader of the free world gushing, telling Mrs. Obama, “May I just say, you look stunning.”

The event was also attended by prominent figures from the entertainment to the tech world. Empire co-creator/director Lee Daniels, famed ballerina Misty Copeland, Disney’s CEO Bob Iger, and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg were just a few figures who made the State Dinner a night to remember. A performance was also held by Grammy-award winning singer/songwriter Ne-Yo.
