Beyoncé took out her braids and let her hair down at Chime For Change’s first anniversary party in NYC yesterday. The shindig was hosted by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini and T Magazine Editor-In-Chief Deborah Needleman (which explains Bey’s T magazine cover).
Over the past year, ‘Yonce, CFC’s co-founder, participated in the campaign, set up through Gucci which aims to empower young women around the globe through powerful stories about inspiring women. She also dug deep into her pockets and donated $500,000 to the cause.
“I have always felt strongly about equal opportunity for women,” she said last April. “Girls have to be taught from early on that they are strong and capable of being anything they want to be. It’s up to us to change the statistics for women around the world. I’m honored to be in the company of women who live fearlessly and set an example for the next generation of young ladies.”
Her sis, Solange, also made an appearance and rocked out a special DJ set, along with her RUN co-star, Blake Lively. See flicks from the event above.
