Wednesday night’s episode of Black-ish had all eyes glued on the small screen for one of the show’s most pivotal and thought-provoking airings.
The ABC program tackled the topic of police brutality in America and how to explain this recurring circumstance to young children who watch this play out on their local news stations to their social media accounts. The characters all shared their various points of view on the topic, which resonated with viewers at home who also experience similar conversations with families and friends.
To the soundtrack of socially-conscious songs from Marvin Gaye to Bob Marley to John Legend, the show depicted images of victims of police brutality like Tamir Rice, protests, and a stirring monologue on the fear most people felt during President Barack Obama’s inaugural parade walk after his 2008 election.
