While a large majority of residents in the Northeast retreated to their homes to escape blizzard Jonas, one Maryland couple used the opportunity to celebrate their impending union. According to ABC News, 27-year-old Felicia Sam and 31-year-old David Nartey took a 40 minute drive on Friday (Jan. 22), to Fort Meade for the engagement photoshoot of their dreams.
“We had wanted to do a snow photo shoot for a long time,” Sam, 27, told ABC. “So any opportunity that presented itself, we were just going to take it. I heard on the news that there was going to be a blizzard so I said surely there’ll be snow. I called the photographer [Dotun Ayodeji] and said, ‘Are you up for it?’ And he said, ‘Oh my God, you’re reading my mind.'”
As the Washington, D.C. area prepped for the worst end of the record-breaking storm, Sam and Nartey spend the first part of the blizzard in front of the lens. According to The Weather Channel, the Baltimore-Washington International Airport saw 29.2 inches of snow. But the happy couple was more than happy to use the white backdrop.
“We always wanted to do a shoot in the snow,” Sam told BuzzFeed. “I like the white background, it’s so different.”
