The Internets went crazy last night with news that Frank Ocean and Chris Brown got into a physical scuffle outside of a studio in LA. Details are still hazy, but Frank tweeted “got jumped by chris and a couple guys. lol. i only wish everest was there.” What’s beef? Here are some other recent, strange celebrity feuds.

Consequence vs. Kanye West
Consequence and Kanye West were former musical besties with Cons even reportedly ghostwriting hits for Ye. The talented pair’s dirty laundry was aired out when Cons sat down with NYC’s The Breakfast Club and claimed Kanye owed him beaucoup bucks for his past work and never bothered to buy Cons a gift for his first child’s birth. Rappers fighting is not new, but the man who spends $800 on a Givenchy kilt can’t buy a $300 baby registry gift? C’mon Ye. -
Wale vs. Kola Boof
Rapper Wale and writer Kola Boof got into it in 2011 when Boof called Wale out on Twitter for portraying negative images of women in his music videos. “Think about the IMAGES in Wale’s videos….and then look at why Nigerian kids, both male & female, want to skin bleach. HIS VIDEOS!! partly,” she shared. Folarin threw in his two cents and a quick shot in his “Bad Girls Club” verse. -
Jay-Z vs. Frederic Rouzaud
Before Frederic Rouzaud of Cristal opened his big mouth, your favorite rapper drank nothing but the gold bubbly. In 2006, the Economist asked Rouzaud how he felt about rappers sipping Crissy and he said, “That’s a good question, but what can we do? We can’t forbid people from buying it. I’m sure Dom Perignon or Krug would be delighted to have their business.” King Hov called “racism” on the brand and launched a boycott. That’s why his favorite drink, Ace of Spades, reigns supreme in rap, kids. -
Robert De Niro and Jay-Z
Jay-Z has been on the receiving end of strange beef too. In 2012, Robert De Niro (who got a name-check in Jigga’s “Empire State of Mind”) scolded Hov for reportedly being “rude” and not returning six calls he made to the rapper about a joint project. When Bobby and the Carters were in the same room, things apparently got awk-ward. “Bob wasn’t in any mood to make polite conversation,” a spy shared with the New York Post. “He told Jay that if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesn’t matter who you are, that is just rude.” -
Mariah Carey vs. Eminem
Mariah and Eminem were apparently smash buddies back in the late 90s/early 2000s. Something very wrong must have happened in the low-key fling (which Mariah still denies) because the two have thrown musical digs at each other ever since including Eminem’s “Superman” to Mariah’s “Clown” and “Obsessed.” In the latter song, Mimi even donned a faux Eminem get-up in the music video to show how insane Marshall was. Mariah’s hubby Nick Cannon joined the bout, challenging Slim Shady to a boxing match in 2010 for dissing his lady. Waaaay too messy! -
Rihanna vs. MTV Canada
Even before she publicly forgave Chris Brown, Rihanna was touchy when it came to her relationship with her ex-flame. In 2011, the singer blasted MTV Canada after it ran a story with the Tweet from her (later found to be false), “I admit, I provoked Chris to hit me. It was not entirely his fault. #ImSORRY.” Rih Rih flew in a rage. “are u fucking kiddin me?????? You’re supposed to be a RELIABLE source for news on music and this is the bullshit u post??” she fired back on Twitter. Hmmm…with all of the Chrianna coverage, we wonder how she stumbled upon this article in the first place. Googling herself?
