Imagine Pharrell riding a bike down your favorite shopping block in NYC. What would you do?
Hundreds of fans asked themselves this as Pharrell and his hip-hop motley crew took a bike tour on Wednesday (June 1) and visited various G-Star Raw locations throughout the city. The occasion? G-Star has opened another store on 5th Ave.
To celebrate, the “Head of Imagination” aka “Skateboard P” booked DJs to spin at each New York City G-STar Raw retailer. Joey Bada$$ and Kirk Knight of Pro Era spun at the SoHo location while DJ Clark Kent hit the Williamsburg store. As for the SoHo location, the flagship grew crowded as fans tweeted about the “party.”
The men’s & women’s denim vendor grabbed the attention of many in 2014 when the luxury brand and the producer turned designer decided to create a line of denim made of recycled plastic materials, primarily from the ocean. With Pharrell at the helm since becoming a co-owner earlier this year, G-Star is more focused on encouraging individuality and pushing the envelope. Celeb fans of the brand include Rihanna, Mike Epps, and even Sarah Jessica Parker.
