PAULA PATTON
First and foremost, I have to say Paula Patton. She’s actually somebody who I’ve always admired from the first time I saw her on-screen in Idlewild. I was like, ‘Who is this woman!?’ We all love and respect Halle Berry, but after I saw her for the first time, I was like, ‘Wow, Halle’s got some competition. She got to stay doing her sit-ups.’ (Laughs) I’ve always admired Paula’s work, so I always wanted to work with her and I can’t even lie: I was very happy when she got cast in Jumping The Broom. It was a great opportunity for us to be in leading roles.

ANGELA BASSETT
I think she’s the best of the best when it comes to African-American actresses in film right now. She has a concentration that’s just unbreakable when she’s on set. Being able to work opposite her in Jumping The Broom, there were times when I had to pinch myself. She is iconic, to say the least. -

LORETTA DEVINE
It’s hard for me not to include her here, despite the fact that she plays my mother in Jumping The Broom. I worked with her on This Christmas a few years ago and got to work with her much more closely on JTB and she’s one of the few actresses that can do it all. If we were talking about a basketball team, she’d be the person who could play every single position. She’s made her mark playing the nice, sweet, motherly woman. But in JTB, you’re going to see that she can turn on the ugly face real quick, too, and do it well. She’s just one of those people who can deliver a great performance regardless of what role she has. -

MEAGAN GOOD
People have yet to see Meagan play the role that shows what she can really do on-screen. She is a really, really, really funny person with great comedic timing. But she’s also beautiful. She’s the girl you can hang out all day with, have a beer with, and then watch the big game with. That’s her. Ultimately, that’s what guys want to be around and she has that quality to her. But don’t get it wrong: She’s also a great actress! -

TASHA SMITH
Tasha is not only a great actress, but she’s also a great businesswoman. A lot of people don’t know that she has her own acting class that’s all over the United States. She teaches classes that are always packed and standing-room only. She also produces and directs films. She’s a renaissance woman in every sense of the word.
