Growing up black is a special experience. With successful primetime shows like Everybody Hates Chris and My Wife And Kids often poking fun at being raised in a brown family, it can be the source of much stress in youth but laughs in adult life. From stern (sometimes questionable) disciplinary tactics and frilly church attire to sinkside hair woes and age-old adages, the accuracy of the trip down memory lane from the new trendy hashtag #GrowingUpBlack is astounding.
There’s honestly nothing quite like it. And hey, even if you’re not black, you’ll probably still get a kick out of flipping through the spirited hash tag from the sidelines above.
