The Single: “Straight To The Bank”
The Album: 2007’s Curtis
The Reaction: Fif had a hell of a time getting people to fall in love with him again before dropping his third solo album back in ’07. He tried this song and the god-awful “Amusement Park” (ugh!) before he finally struck gold again with “I Get Money.”

The Single: “I Like the Way She Do It”
The Album: 2008’s G-Unit album T.O.S. (Terminate on Sight)
The Reaction: This wasn’t what we were expecting from the first single off the second G-Unit album—and it really tempered our expectations for what Fif & Co. would deliver on the project. Fortunately, the beat made it club-friendly enough for it to sky up the charts. But the second single, “Rider, Pt. 2″ was much better and more in line with what we expected from the Unit.[videoembed size=”full_width” alignment=”center”][/videoembed]

50 Cent 6
The Single: “Disco Inferno”
The Album: 2005’s The Massacre
The Reaction: 50 Cent could have put out just about anything back in 2005 and won. So, that’s basically what he did when he released this single. There was nothing super special about this one, but it still managed to get plenty of rotation in the club.[videoembed size=”full_width” alignment=”center”][/videoembed]

50 Cent 5
The Single: “OK, You’re Right”
The Album: 2009’s Before I Self Destruct
The Reaction: After choosing more commercial songs as first singles for his second and third albums, 50 got back to doing what he does best on the first attempt from his fourth album—rapping his ass off and talking ish to all his haters. Well, until he picked “Baby By Me” as his next single…[videoembed size=”full_width” alignment=”center”][/videoembed]

50 Cent 4
The Single: “Hustler’s Ambition”
The Album: 2005’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’: Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture
The Reaction: “Hustler’s Ambition” wasn’t anywhere near as potent as “Lose Yourself,” the first single from Eminem’s autobiographical flick, 8 Mile. But it was a strong attempt by 50 to capture the essence of his own film and he succeeded in doing it.[videoembed size=”full_width” alignment=”center”][/videoembed]

50 Cent 3
The Single: “Stunt 101″
The Album: 2003’s G-Unit album Beg For Mercy
The Reaction: Get Rich or Die Tryin’? Guess we know which one won out! 50 didn’t immediately sell out and start making songs for the radio, though. First, he concocted this flashy anthem about—what else?—stunting that stayed true to the G-Unit’s mission statement without scaring 50’s fans off. This one still goes eight years later.[videoembed size=”full_width” alignment=”center”][/videoembed]

50 Cent 2
The Single: “How To Rob”
The Album: 2000’s unreleased Power of the Dollar
The Reaction: Few rappers captured our ears as quickly as 50 did. Anyone who thinks that he beefs too often with other rappers needs to go back and listen to this to remember that him beefing is the very thing that first caught our attention.[videoembed size=”full_width” alignment=”center”][/videoembed]

50 Cent 1
The Single: “In Da Club”
The Album: 2003’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’
The Reaction: We all knew 50 was headed towards superstardom when this song dropped. His mixtapes were dope. His street singles were cool. And “Wanksta,” which appeared on the 8 Mile soundtrack, got us warmed up. But this had the streets, the clubs, the car stereos, the boomboxes, and the radio on lock when it dropped. Best debut single ever? You be the judge.[videoembed size=”full_width” alignment=”center”][/videoembed]
