Gunna and Young Thug performed their greatest solo hits, connected on their most popular collaborations, and showcased Young Stoner Life artists on Thursday night (March 17) during the Billboard showcase at South by Southwest 2022. Light rain showers did not deter thousands of fans from flocking to Waterloo Park in Austin, Texas to watch their favorite rappers perform.
Taking the stage first, Gunna entered the arena and kicked off the show with “poochie gown,” a song featured on his latest album DRIP SEASON 4EVER. He continued performing other bangers including “DOLLAZ ON MY HEAD, “south to west,” “Oh Ok,” “Livin Wild,” and the Internet Money led collab, “Lemonade.”
Sporting a “Dolce Gabbana Jean operation” as he called it, Gunna ended his solo set with “Drip Too Hard” and was joined by Young Thug for a lively rendition of “Surf” before exiting the stage. Keeping things upbeat, Thugger started off with “Slatty” from the Young Stoner Life compilation album Slime Language 2. Keeping it in the YSL family, Young Thug was joined on stage throughout the night by Yak Gotti, Unfoonk, and BSlime.
Gunna made his way back to the stage to join Young Thug and hit the crowd with their top collaborations. Of course, it would not be a proper Thug and Gunna show without the two powerhouse rappers performing “pushin’ p,” “Hot,” and “Ski.” Together, the duo brought Atlanta Hip-Hop to SXSW and completed their mission of a “Billboard Slime takeover,” as Gunna declared once the superstars hit the stage.
