HBO threw a pretty jazzy block party in Brooklyn this past weekend where all the cool kids (and the slightly awkward ones) came out to congregate and celebrate Issa Rae’s new comedy Insecure. The show’s executive producer, co-writer, and star, along with the rest of the cast were on hand to mingle with attendees, sip on a tasty blend of lemonade, and honey whiskey topped with a mint garnish appropriately titled “InsecureTea,” and nibble on crab rolls, sliders and empanadas.
While the temperature maybe cooling down, a surprise performance from BJ The Chicago Kid warmed everyone as he serenaded the crowd who was more than ready to witness and appreciate his talent live. Vibe was on hand to screen the pilot episode of Rae’s new show, and yes, it’s hilarious because, well duh, Issa is hilarious, but the show touches on conversations not readily explored on television and taps into the uncertainty that suddenly hits you when 29 sneaks up out of nowhere, 30 is around the corner, and you realize this sh*t is real. Take a look at our top five. reasons to watch Issa Rae’s Insecure.
