VH1’s Save The Music benefit show in the Hamptons on Saturday night (Aug. 8) was a turn-up for a cause. The foundation raised almost $800,000—nearly double the amount of last year’s benefit to help music education flourish in schools—at Julie Macklowe’s summer estate in Sagaponack, New York,
The night’s show was headlined by Jason Derulo, who performed notable jams like “Want To Want Me,” “Marry Me” and “Watcha Say.” DJs Hannah Bronfman (#fitspiration much?) and Brendan Fallis also held down the 1’s and 2’s. Other notable VIPs in attendance were Bethenny Frankel, Bobby Flay and Orange Is The New Black star Selenis Leyva.
During his set, Derulo applauded VH1’s Save The Music Foundation with a few special words of his own. “Music has always been a great part of my life, it kept me off the streets,” he said. “I feel fortunate that I have this platform where I can speak about things that I actually care about—music is one of those things. All of us being here today is a testament to the great people that started this organization.”
