Tuesday evening (Jan. 26), Kanye West announced his highly-anticipated album’s name change from SWISH to WAVES. The switch-up sat well with a few people, but for others, the title struck a sour nerve.
One of those people being fellow rapper, Wiz Khalifa. The “Roll Up” rapper sparked off on Twitter to explain his reasoning, stating that Max B is the originator of the term adding, “There is no wave without him.”
After catching wind of Wiz’s comments, Mr. West also took to the social media account to write off a string of tweets that have covered your timelines. The Chi-town native first began with the statement, “Oh ni**as must think I’m not petty cause I’m the best that’s ever made music.” Then he became more specific and directly spoke to Wiz, alleging that the Pittsburgh native stole Kid Cudi’s “whole sh*t,” and took aim at his music, writing, “no one I know has ever listened to one of your albums all the way through.”
But it didn’t take long for Wiz to take notice of Ye’s statements, writing in response to the concept of his forthcoming project: “I been smashed the idea of that album even existing. I got joints to roll @kanyewest.” Kanye then came back to say that he actually has respect for Wiz, and hinted that WAVES is actually a Gospel album.
What’s sad is I love Wiz and I love all all my brothers and all people
