Next year, the Puerto Rican and Cuban actress will be busy filming for Clerks 3, Henchmen, and The Lego Batman Movie. She will also reprise her role as Claire Temple in the upcoming series Luke Cage. Not to mention, as co-founder of Voto Latino, Dawson is bound to challenge us in the upcoming presidential election and continue to inspire us with her humanitarian endeavors.
Actress and musician Tessa Thompson is a jack-of-all-trades. The Afro-Mexicana landed several pivotal supporting roles like Bianca in Creed and activist Diane Nash in Selma. She also contributed several tracks to Creed’s official soundtrack. In the New Year, the former Heroes actress will appear the reboot of Westworld and the upcoming comedy War On Everyone. Can’t wait to watch her flourish!
Dominicana Dascha Polanco has become an inspiration to Latinas everywhere. Within the last few years, Polanco’s career went from 0-100 after appearing alongside Vanessa Hudgens and Rosario Dawson in Gimme Shelter and The Cobbler. Now that Orange Is The New Black has become a cult classic amongst Netflix connoisseurs around the world, Polanco will continue to capitalize on her developing talent and growing success. Following her most recent film Joy with Jennifer Lawrence, Polanco is set to star in the romantic comedy The Perfect Match in 2016. Get it girl!
Mexican singer/rapper and actress Becky G is prepping for a major year in 2016. After her successful tour with J Balvin, the “Break A Sweat” singer is ready to drop her debut album. Not only is her long-awaited LP scheduled to drop in the new year, but the Empire actress is also set to appear as the Yellow ranger in the upcoming Power Rangers film. Talk about boss moves.
The voice of New York Angie Martinez has made power moves within the past two years. After she made a historic jump from Hot 97 to Power 105 in 2014, Martinez has been busting moves left and right, including getting signed by Roc Nation. Between being honored with her official day in the state of New York to releasing of her version of a Latin cookbook with “Top Chef” runner-up Angelo Sosa, it seems like the rapper turned radio personality will continue to win well into 2016. America Ferrera has moved on from her Ugly Betty phase and plans to broaden her horizons in comedy. The Hondureña actress currently acts as the lead role Amy in NBC’s Superstore. Ferrera is also set to appear in Ricky Gervais’ upcoming comedy Special Correspondents. As if her schedule wasn’t busy enough, Ferrera will also return as Astrid and will begin production on the third installment of Dreamworks’ How To Train A Dragon in 2016.
Cierra Ramirez’s acting career has skyrocketed following her Disney days on The Suite Life Of Zack & Cody. Since then, the Mexican actress has grown into her new persona as Mariana Adams-Foster in Jennifer Lopez’s drama series The Fosters. As the show continues into its fourth season in 2016, Ramirez will also appear in the upcoming film Broken Doll with Hunger Games actor Evan Ross.
