This year’s Oscar nominations were recently announced, and instantly, it was noticeable that a few prominent actors of color were missing from the lengthy list.
In the big categories like Best Motion Picture or Best Actor/Actress in a lead role, a few movies that most people thought were a given to receive a nod like Straight Outta Compton, Creed, or Dope, instead were nominated in categories like Original Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor.

The famed comedian, Chris Rock will serve as host for the star-studded night, and there’s speculation as to whether or not the award-winning entertainer will address the lack of diversity at the Oscars in his monologue.
