Pac-Man is back. Manny Pacquiao was victorious over Brandon Rios in the WBO international welterweight fight on Saturday (Nov. 23) night. The fight, set in Macau, China, lasted 12-rounds and left Rios bloody. For Pacquiao, the fight was not only a big victory that saved his boxing legacy, but it also marked a successful comeback following the knockout he suffered at the fists of Juan Manuel Márquez almost a year ago. Pac-Man’s victory was also a win for the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan, which left the island country in shambles.
Manny Pacquiao won by unanimous decision. The judges scored the fight 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110. During the fight a combined 1292 punches were thrown, 790 of those by Pacquiao. He landed 281 of this on Rios, much of the blows going to Rios’ head. By comparison, Rios only landed 138 blows on Pac-Man.
