Los Angeles was treated to a Getaway Q&A with director Courtney Solomon, stunt supervisor Charlie Picerni and host Xzibit on Aug. 27, in the lead up to the action film’s opening weekend at the box office. Xzibit isn’t in the film, but the car enthusiast knows a thing or two about cars after four years of hosting MTV’s vehicle revamp series Pimp My Ride.
While the “Getaway” stars Ethan Hawke, Selena Gomez, Jon Voight, its biggest star is a customized Shelby Mustang Super Snake. The filmmaker boasted that the car scenes are real, no CGI. Over 130 cars roughed and mangled, with up to 42 cameras on each take giving the audience a 360 view of the action.
Ethan Hawke plays Brent Magna, a former race car driver whose goal is to find his kidnapped wife. Solomon’s goal was to create an experience for the audience; so when you enter the theater, you’re getting on a ride. The thriller chase opens Labor Day Weekend.
