Hip-Hop And The MET Gala: Megan Thee Stallion, 21 Savage And More

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s 2023 Met Gala takes place tonight (May 1), and promises to be an evening of excitement for the fashion forward among us.

“Fashion’s biggest night out” has long been the premiere shindig for style’s ultra-elite, as attendees must receive an invitation from Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue and the chair of the Met Gala since 1995.

In recent years, rappers such as Cardi B, Kid Cudi, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj have been shutting down the carpet with elaborate looks that keep the masses talking. Walking up those museum steps, however, is nothing new for the culture, as Hip-Hop’s most influential fashionista, Lil Kim, hit the red carpet back in the early 2000s. Fellow MC Eve was also a regular at the exclusive party before it became such a heavily publicized event.
