Before her story became an addition to music’s tragic “dead at 27 club,” Amy Jane Winehouse was a budding natural music talent from the Southgate area of London, England.
Winehouse was barely 20 years old when she released her 2003 debut album, Frank, but it was 2006’s Back to Black that cemented her music legacy. The album earned Winehouse five Grammys awards in one night, and sold more than 12 million copies worldwide.
Despite her career heights, Winehouse couldn’t escape her inner demons and addictions. The talented singer died of alcohol poisoning on July 23, 2011.
