Although Reebok is known for curating super dope collaboration collections with superstar musicians (Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent), the staple athletic footwear and apparel brand is now looking to gain more credibility in the fashion world.
So, it comes as no surprise that for their latest collaboration they’ve tapped lifestyle brand Maison Kitsuné. Reebok and Kitsuné teamed up earlier this year creating two pairs of limited-edition kicks that successfully sold out in minutes. This time around, the creative duo is focusing more on apparel, joining forces for a full capsule collection that boasts of baseball themed, gender-neutral pieces.
Why baseball in particular, you may ask? At the launch event in Tokyo, Maison Kitsuné cofounder Masaya Kuroki explained, “When I was a kid, I used to play baseball, but I was not good enough to be on a real team — I was on the bench watching my friends play,” he laughs. “So now this time I can be a main player. We can all play together and nobody can put us on the bench.”
The eight-piece collection combines Kistuné’s preppy sportswear aesthetic with Reebok’s athletic-based materials. And with the entire collection on the tipping point of androgynous, nothing is too masculine or too feminine for consumers. Basically, there’s something for everyone to rock, adding their own personal touch.
The Reebok x Maison Kitsuné collection drops on Sept. 12 at select Reebok Classic and Maison Kitsuné stores.
