
As a virgin to all things Essence Fest, I hit the jackpot with this year’s line-up. With old-school veterans like Charlie Wilson, Frankie Beverly and Maze, to fan favs Trey Songz, Kendrick Lamar and Missy Elliott all gracing the stage, some of music’s greatest talents spread nothing but love.

MISSY ELLIOTT
Missy Elliott destroyed the Essence Festival stage. Yes, she still had a cute face, less chubbier waist, thick legs but Misdemeanor is in the best shape as she performed her catalog of hits including “Lose Control,” “Get Ur Freak On,” “Work It” “Lick Shoots,” and the Bad Boy classic that introduced us all to her infectious hee hee hee how, “That Thing You Do.” The entire Super Dome was on their feet for her entire set, proving why she will forever be the illest.
