This holiday season, celebrities are making it count. Oklahoma City Thunder Guard Russell Westbrook opted to host two simultaneous Thanksgiving dinners — one in Oklahoma and one in his hometown on Los Angeles — to give back to underprivileged families. The dinners were an extension of The Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation held in conjunction with the United Way of Central Oklahoma’s Emerging Leaders, the Boys & Girls Club of Oklahoma County and Jesse Owens Park in LA. In OKC they fed over 500 people, while in South Central L.A., Westbrook’s parents fed over 400 people.
“I am so lucky to be in a position to give back to others and am thrilled to be able to offer Thanksgiving dinner to families in need both in Oklahoma City and Los Angeles,” Westbrook said. “Last year was a great success and we hope to serve even more people this year.”
