The Emmy Award winning programming coming from HBO Sports is seldom less than stellar. The new short series from the network, State Of Play, is geared towards taking a deeper look at athletes beyond the bright lights. The first episode focused in on the mental effects of a lack of happiness that athletes face once their playing career is done and focused in on NFL legends like Brett Favre and Michael Strahan. Tonight at 10 pm on HBO, the show’s host and producer, Peter Berg bring you State Of Play: Broken. Berg brings the audience closer to two former athletes who are now paralyzed, Steve Shope and former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand.
We spoke with LeGrand about the film, got his thoughts on football’s safety issues and more after the jump.
