Sankeys NYC is shaping up for a pretty hot December with events from the 20th of December through to the New Year. Timo Maas, Steve Lawler and DJ W!ld are just some of the epic DJs gracing the DJ booth this winter. VIBE sat down with them to talk crazy NYC nights, New Year’s resolutions and what they’re hoping to get in their stockings this Christmas. >>>>>>

DJ W!ld
VIBE: What’s your craziest memory from an NYC gig?
W!ld: I still remember when I was playing at Twilo back in the day. One of best sound systems I’ve played! Everything was crazy at that time for my 20-year-old eyes. The sound, the light, the crowd, the energy was really about dancing and not posing. What’s your New Year’s Resolution?
No joints, no sex, no music. 🙂What do you want Santa to bring you this year?
Health, happiness and love. -
Steve Lawler
VIBE: What’s your craziest memory from an NYC gig?
Steve: Not so long back I was set to play an illegal warehouse party in Brooklyn, but we were sabotaged by someone and the police were informed and turned up very early. I was actually outside the warehouse space about to go in and I heard the police asking someone ‘where is this guy Steve Lawler!!’ I was like ‘WHAT!?” Then one of the promoters came out to me and said it was probably best I didn’t stick around as everyone inside was getting arrested, then a bunch of people saw me and shouted ‘hey it’s Steve Lawler!’ So at that point I thought yes, it was best to leave considering I just heard the police asking after me. This wasn’t a nice experience especially when I saw a dear friend and a promoter of the night getting put in the back of a police van cuffed. It was for sure a crazy night. For something more positive, to this day even after all the experiences I had over the years in New York at Twilo and the Tunnel etc The LIFE Party I did in Brooklyn a couple of years ago has to go down as one of my New York highlights. We set up a space to party in at the Delkab Market a market place for local artists and designers right in the middle of Brooklyn. Over 1,500 came and joined us and it was simply incredible, it was very special. What’s your New Year’s Resolution?
I have weekly resolutions, once a year is not enough for me!What do you want Santa to bring you this year?
All I want is good health for my family and friends and I honestly mean that. The best gift of all is our health. -
Timo Maas
VIBE: What’s your craziest memory from an NYC gig?
Timo: I had quite some crazy moments really in the Big Apple. One of the best was some years back in September 2005, when I played with Danny Tenaglia at the after-party in Crobar for the Ultra Festival same day in Central Park. Super amazing atmosphere and also a bit of back2back action with my personal NYC hero. Great memories! What’s your New Year’s Resolution?
