“My name is Walter Hartwell White… This is my confession.” With those 10 words, the finale season of Breaking Bad jumped to epic proportions. **SPOILERS AHEAD**
For the millions of fans who love to keep track of the multiple plot twists within, riddle us this: How many times has Vince Gilligan and his writers made your mouth fall to your floor? Last night’s episode, titled “Confessions,” gobsmacked us all with twist after twist that we couldn’t have possibly seen coming—but enjoyed nonetheless.
The cat-and-mouse game between Walt (Bryan Cranston), Hank (Dean Norris) and their respective wives was brilliant in how the former was able to turn the tables on the latter. The seed that grew within Jesse Pinkman’s heart has grown into a tree of disgust for Walt, Saul (Bob Odenkirk) and the way his life has unfolded. Able to now fully verbalize angst towards his former high school chemistry teacher, Jesse calls out Walt on his sneaky ways with the skill of a trained detective. Their moment in the desert was one that many fans have been waiting for—an opportunity for Jesse to confront his former friend-and-mentor.
As Jesse breaks down Walt’s pompous drug dealing demigod image and the doting father act in one felt swoop, Jesse’s pained monologue in the middle of nowhere finds him shook to his core, yet still powerful enough to make his would-be handlers mum when he accuses Walt of killing Mike.
While this game-changing episode left many on the edge of a cliff, it also means there are just five more Breaking Bad episodes remaining. With that in mind, we scoured the Twitterverse for the best reactions from the “Confessions” episode.
