Biggie’s iconic Versace sunglasses are back on the market for the first time in a very long time.
Made famous by the 90’s powerhouse in his 1995 “One More Chance” video, Notorious B.I.G. put the Versace shades on the map. Now, an updated colorway way of the limited-edition design will be available for purchase at Barneys New York for one month only starting Monday (Oct. 8).
Often seen rocking the all black low-lens design with signature golden emblem, Biggie’s Versace shades were the Kanye shutter shades of the 90s.
“I think Biggie was amazing. He came to my shows in Paris many times, and we’d see each other often,” designer Donatella Versace told The Fader back in 2011. “He always used to talk so nicely about my family. I think he was so smart, so intelligent. He had such a mind. So I loved what he was doing and how he was giving people a way to know about Versace—I do think he was giving people a way to know about Versace—I do think a lot of people started to know about Versace because of him.”
The sunglasses are a part of Versace’s The Clans Collection, which celebrates the fashion house as a global symbol of Italian luxury. Making use of OG prints and the distinctive medusa logo, Donatella Versace honors the legacy of Versace founder, Gianni Versace, through the collection.
