Looks like Drake has an avant-garde taste on art; working with art auction house, Sotheby’s S|2, Drake partnered with curators to soundtrack their latest exhibition, I Like It Like This. The contemporary art show was opened last week and features 21st century Black artists who have been pivotal voices in the area of Black expression within their artistry.
From the exhibition statement:
“I Like It Like This, presented by S|2 in collaboration with Drake, is a celebration of black American contemporary artists through an auditory lens. Music has been an essential component of expression in the black American experience dating back centuries, reaching a creative crescendo with the birth of Jazz in the 1920s, a period famously important to contemporary artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Romare Bearden, and Faith Ringgold…
Grammy winning, hip hop icon Drake has provided musical curation by selecting songs to accompany highlighted works in the exhibition.”
Last night, whilst attending an event DJ’d by the ever-talented Vashtie, Drake stopped by Sotheby’s S|2 and took pictures with some of the hanging pieces. Among the showcased contemporary artists were: Jean-Michel Basquiat, Kara Walker, Romare Bearden, Rashid Johnson, and Tony Lewis.
Check out the photos Drake posted on his Instagram of the exhibition. However, if you want to see the art live and in person, the show is currently open to the public on the 2nd floor of Sotheby’s S|2 auction house in NYC.
Of course Aubrey went on a promo spree of his own, so check out some of his personal snapshots from the affair.
