After several celebrities and brands are pulling their support from fashion house Gucci amidst blackface controversy, Katy Perry’s fashion line is also removing items from her shoe collection many would also deem questionable.
According to TMZ, the pop star, whose shoe collection is available for purchase at Dillard’s and Walmart, is making the decision to pull her “face shoes” from shelves. They are pretty self-explanatory: the shoe, which comes in both black and white, features a face on the front. As you can gather, the black one resembles blackface pretty closely.
“Sources connected to Katy tell us these specific shoes are just part of an entire line of shoes she’s designed and released … and they were never intended to be offensive,” TMZ reports. “However, we’re told, “In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes.”
Last week, Gucci’s “blackface sweater” was pulled from the luxury brand’s physical and online stores after backlash. Collaborator Dapper Dan said that he plans on holding the fashion house “accountable” for their offensive design.
“I am a black man before I am a brand,” the fashion icon wrote on Instagram. “Another fashion house has gotten it outrageously wrong.”
Well done SJWs for accusing @katyperry‘s SHOES of black face and getting them removed.
But on the other hand… if this is where fashion is, it’s safe to say we’ve previously reached our peak and from here we are regressing.
Who the fuck would wear those? genuinely asking. pic.twitter.com/qTYvf36ODp

Those Katy Perry shoes are not only offensive because of the black face but also because they’re ugly af.
