Cosmetics brand Maybelline has announced actress and producer Storm Reid as its newest global ambassador.
The A Wrinkle In Time star will not only be the face of a “new innovation from Maybelline’s Fit Me franchise” in Spring 2021, but she’ll also lend her voice to the brand’s mental health initiative, Brave Together, “supporting anxiety and depression” and “ongoing diversity work.”
“Maybelline has been in my family for as long as I can remember,” said Reid. “I’m looking forward to this new chapter with Maybelline where I will be able to use my voice to champion young women and my generation through my work with the brand.”
“Storm is a standout voice and changemaker,” added Trisha Ayyagari, Global Brand President, Maybelline New York Worldwide. “She is a deeply talented actress, a courageous champion of equality and has energy that lights up any room. I’ve always admired Storm and knew she would be a great addition to the Maybelline brand.”

In an interview with Essence, Reid shared why she decided to partner with the make-up brand. It boiled down to impact and purpose.
“As a young Black girl, I won’t just be ‘the face’ of something. I’ll be able to implement ideas, I’ll be respected. So yes, even though I do have access to tons of different things, whether that’s makeup brands or not, I’m a purpose-driven person. And that’s whether I’m working with [a] brand or jumping on a project as an actress or producer, it has to mean something. It has to not only impact me but impact audiences.
“I’m trying not to get too excited, but like on Friday when the product launches and all these things come out from Maybelline, to see a young 17-year-old Black girl in like CVS representing a brand, that’s impactful. And that’s something that young girls like us need to see.”
Reid is set to star in upcoming movies The Suicide Squad and One Way and appear in the second season of HBO’s hit series, Euphoria. You can find the 17-year-old hosting her Facebook Watch conversation series, Chop It Up, produced by her company, A Seed & Wings, founded by Reid and her mother, Robyn Simpson.
Major congratulations are in order for this young Queen.
