The Mexican artist first stepped out on the scene in the late 60s with his Santana band and pioneered a fusion of rock and Latin American music. Soon after, Carlos became beloved for his melodic blues-based guitar lines set against Latin and African rhythms, which can be heard in crossover favorites like “Maria Maria”.
