The immense success of 50 Cent’s hit Starz crime drama Power has opened the door for the rap supervillain to create his own universe of heroes and antagonists, beginning with its sister show, Power Book II: Ghost.
In the first spinoff of the Courtney Kemp-co-created franchise, Tariq St. Patrick attempts to pull the pieces of his broken family together in the aftermath of murdering his father, James St. Patrick, and as his mother, Tasha St. Patrick, enters a witness protection program. After enrolling at Stansfield University at the behest of his late father and businessman Simon Stern, Tariq falls back into the drug game and links up with the Tejada family, a drug organization headed by Monet Tejada (played by R&B star Mary. J Blige) in place of her husband, Lorenzo Tejada. With close friend and classmate Brayden Weston working alongside him and various forces—including Stansfield Professor Jabari Reynolds, Cane Tejada, and a mysterious figure simply known as Mecca—working against him, Tariq’s mission to protect his younger sister, Yasmine/Yaz, and reunite with his mother is at the top of his priorities in the second and most action-packed season of the Power Book II: Ghost series.
As the show’s various players were on their respective quests for money, power, respect, and retribution, last season was filled with storylines that kept viewers on the edge of their seats. Evolving relationships between characters old and new resulted in multiple flash-points that will have lasting ramifications moving forward. The deaths were aplenty—sometimes tragic, sometimes swift—and the betrayal was at an all-time high. Season two of Power Book II: Ghost made the series must-see TV and placed anticipation for the next season at an all-time high.
Here are the most memorable moments and plot twists from Power Book II: Ghost season two.
