It’s crazy to think that 20 years ago, we were blessed with a cinematic masterpiece known as Space Jam. If you’re a little fuzzy on the plot’s details, let’s help you out.
The G.O.A.T Michael Jordan retires from the NBA to play minor league baseball, but Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes need his help in a basketball game against an alien race. If they lose, they’ll be forced to spend the rest of their two-dimensional lives doing lame comedy in an amusement park somewhere in outer space. Drama, romance and hilarity ensue, and Air Jordan eventually goes back to playing for the Chicago Bulls after helping the Looney Tunes win their big game. We never really deserved this film, but we’re forever grateful that we were given it.
Now of course, there’s news of a sequel to the 1996 film starring LeBron James, which is reportedly beginning production soon. We’re willing to give it a chance. No matter what Space Jam 2 turns out like, the original will always hold a special place in our hearts. Check out our top five reasons why Space Jam will always slam in the gallery above.
