50 Cent and Eminem’s upcoming collaboration has a name: “Champions.”
In a recent sit down with MTV, the G-Unit head honcho detailed how the track – which will appear on his Street King Immortal album – came together. Sharing that he traveled to Detroit to work with Em, Fif classified the reclusive Shady Records boss as a “lab rat.”
“We wrote the song in Detroit. I did go out there, and we recorded in his studios, his comfort zone. Em is a lab rat, I don’t know if you know this. You don’t see him unless he’s scheduled to be somewhere. Other than that, he’s probably writing something new now.”
50 Cent also dropped a hint about the sound of the upcoming record, noting that it will be reminiscent of past Eminem hits.

“It’s a really cool process. It’s usually more fun than it feels like work. It sounds like one of those hit records that you’ve heard from Eminem in the past, with an R&B singer in the chorus.”
Ever-appreciative for Eminem’s Shady/Aftermath put-on, 50 Cent discussed his relationship with his mentor. He attributed Em with singlehandedly giving himself, Lloyd Banks, Tony Yayo and Young Buck the opportunity of a lifetime.
“Me and Em’s relationship is really interesting too. I never had anyone in my life do so much for me in one shot. The opportunity he provided for me is even why [G-Unit] received their opportunity. In one shot he did it. He showed up, and his timing was incredible.”
