There were a handful of absentees on the Grammy Awards’ ballot during the nomination ceremony on Monday (Dec. 7), and if 50 Cent had a hand in selecting which artists could be up for a golden gramophone, things would be very different. The “I’m The Man” rapper took a page from Drake’s book and gave an Insta-Grammy to someone who he feels was snubbed during Monday’s announcement.
“My Best New Artist award go’s to, Fetty Wap,” Fiddy wrote to his over 7 million followers. He believes Fetty was overlooked by the voters, much like he was when he first started to get his shine.
Multiple outlets including Billboard and USA TODAY were surprised Mr. 1738, whose singles from his bestselling debut album took over airwaves throughout 2015, didn’t have his name on the ballot for one of the most coveted awards of the night. However, the Paterson, N.J. musician did garner two nominations- “Best Rap Song” and “Best Rap Performance” for his smash-hit “Trap Queen.”
