Looks like 50 is quickly realizing that although money can buy him some sparkles of happiness, it certainly can’t buy him a movie title. According to BroadwayGhana.com, the Queens spitter and stacked entrepreuner was forced to switch up the name for his upcoming football film, Things Falls Apart over a copyright conflict.
In 1958, Nigerian best-selling author Chinua Achebe, wrote a more than classic novel under the same title and threatened to sue 50 and the film’s backers over the unauthorized swaggerjack.
Curtis and the gang tried to settle the case out of court by offering the author’s foundation, Chinua Achebe Foundation, $1 milli for permission to use the title. The money was refused however, forcing 50 and his film squad to ultimately change the movie title to All Things Fall Apart.
“The novel with the said title was initially produced in 1958 (that is 17 years before rapper 50 Cent was born), [is] listed as the mostly read book in modern African literature, and won’t be sold for even $1 billion,” Achebe’s lawyer said.
Hopefully for 50, that’s the last of his movie woes.
