When Nicki Minaj’s “Barbie Dreams” hit the airwaves, the internet was set on fire with every male rapper she casually mentioned. The song pays homage to Notorious B.I.G.’s “Dreams.” In her remake, she spits about how it would be like to have sex with some of hip-hop’s most popular rappers today and, to say the least, she (playfully) roasts them all.
Most can say she went easy on 50 Cent: “I tried to f**k 50 for a powerful hour/But all that n***a wanna do is talk Power for hours,” she rapped. She also mentioned ex-boyfriend Meek Mill, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, 6ix9ine, among many others. Amid the ether, she went onto Twitter and explained that the song was just all fun, and if she acknowledged you on the song it meant she appreciates you.
“I only mentioned people in #BarbieDreams that I f*k with. This isn’t a diss. Yikes,” read her tweet. “This is culture, this is BIGGIE!!!!! New York!!!! Thi is FUN. Light hearted fun FUN.”

In a recent interview with Extra, Mr. Jackson noted he appreciated that Nicki wrote the song from her perspective, which he thinks is needed in hip-hop. “It’s being written from a different perspective,” he said. “To get it from a reverse perspective, it’s cool to see that women in hip-hop have come to a point where they can do it their way.”
“I like the record,” he told continued. “I did a song called ‘How to Rob’ that she said was the inspiration for it. It brings everyone in the culture that is relevant at the time ’cause they’re on her mind when she’s writing the music.”
